Our faithful body of believers keeps busy reaching out to the world and community around us. St. Andrew’s prayerfully supports and works for the following mission groups:

  • ELM – an English Language Ministry that provides non-English speaking families with language classes and child care. St. Andrew’s members have worked as English language tutors and teachers. We have also served ELM by helping with everyday office chores like typing and filing. St. Andrew’s members work to keep the computer lab running smoothly to help the students learn English using the latest technology.
  • Greater Lakewood Shepherd’s Center -- is housed in St. Andrews. The Shepherd’s Center provides a host of fun and interesting activities for seniors, including dance, language classes, travel log and special speakers.
  • Wilkinson Center -- St. Andrew’s also works to keep the Wilkinson Food Pantry stocked through our Box of the Month Club. Each month, we collect and donate to Wilkinson a specific boxed food, like macaroni and cheese, jello, cornbread, cake mixes, baby food & formula and oatmeal.
  • Interfaith Housing Coalition -- each year, St. Andrew’s holds a household drive to collect household goods like pots, pans, toys, books, decorations and clothing to the Interfaith Housing Coalition. Interfaith Housing provides temporary housing for families in our area. Families stay in interfaith housing apartments for three months while they are provided with workshops on budgeting, job hunting, interviewing and parenting. St. Andrew’s household goods help to make the apartments a little more like home.
  • Heifer Project -- during Advent, St. Andrew’s children lead the church’s participation in the Heifer Project. St. Andrew’s members buy shares in farm animals like cows, pigs, goats, chickens and bees, which are provided to families throughout the world.
  • Grace Presbyterian Village -- St. Andrew's is proud to support the great work of the Grace Presbyterian Village.  On Mother's Day each year, we take a special offering for GPV.  Also, severl times during the year, St. Andrew's brings a group of singers and enthusiastic members to help lead worship for the residents of Grace Presbyterian Village.
  • Presbyterian Children's Homes/Presbyterian Children's Services -- St. Andrew's has worked to form a great relationship with the girls in the Presbyterian Children's Home in Duncanville.  A contingent from St. Andrew's has met with the girls for fun Sunday afternoons of makeovers and gardening. And we're going back to visit again....come join us!
  • St. Andrew’s  proudly houses an active boy scout troop and Kid Kountry: a private day care program. Kid Kountry is owned and managed by Steve Askin, one of our members. Kid Kountry provides day care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
  • St. Andrew's also is a member of the East Dallas Cooperative Parish and the East Dallas Council of Churches. We participate in the cooperative, ecumenical projects of these two groups.
